COMMUNITY AS CAMPUS
The Eco-High school program will cultivate young people who view themselves as resources to and for the continued vitality of their communities. Students will use the Eau Gallie Arts District as a campus, working together to cultivate a sustainable, agricultural center while creating tangible connections between their actions and their community impact. We have developed meaningful partnerships (Eco-Collective Partners) with institutions, businesses and organizations within the arts district to help lay the foundation for a curriculum that will include internships and apprenticeships along with core specializations in agri-business, agricultural science/technology and sustainability science.
Utilizing a place-based, community-as-campus approach, our program will immerse students in the unique heritage, culture and landscape of the Eau Gallie Arts District. With a primary classroom located on an urban farm/community garden, students will combine their required high school curriculum with a distinct program track of their choice. All students will complete required courses in sustainability and agronomy in order to graduate.
To educate children for an entrepreneurial future through an immersive, hands-on learning environment steeped in nature, sustainability, science and the arts.
